VISION/MISSION

LOCCA is dedicated to maintaining a vibrant cruising fleet, by promoting camaraderie and open dialogue and by acting as a coordinating body for the cruising fleets of Lake Ontario.

In support of our vision, LOCCA will:

  • Enhance and further support the cruising programs that are currently provided by our individual yacht clubs;

  • Coordinate the cruising fleets of Lake Ontario;

  • Provide a platform to discuss issues of importance to cruisers, their respective yacht clubs and hosting clubs;

  • Provide unified representation for cruisers in dealing with regulators;

  • Provide third party mediation & advisory services to cruisers and yacht clubs.

  • Lobby goverment agencies and other sailing associations on behalf of boaters.

In response to the growing needs of sailors and boaters on Lake Ontario, the Lake Ontario Club Cruising Association (LOCCA) was created.  Membership has been offered to every Yacht club from Brockville in the East to Hamilton in the West, and in both Canada and the US.

LOCCA's MISSION is as follows:

LOCCA enhances and supports yacht club cruising programs, provides a platform to discuss issues of importance to boaters, their respective yacht clubs and to hosting clubs, as well as coordinate club cruises on the greater Lake Ontario.  LOCCA will strive to be inclusive in order to address the issues of all boaters.

LOCCA's short-term deliverables for member Yacht Clubs are:

·        Individualized web based integrated & interactive cruising schedules for member clubs and individual boaters; www.locca.org

·        Dedicated web pages that provide the following club specific information:

o       Names and contacts of the Cruising Fleet Directors, gas dock attendants, club manager, facilities manager etc.,

o       Reciprocal policies,

o       Key phone numbers,

o       Facilities available to visiting boaters,

o       Boating (depth etc) and other club restrictions,

o       Link to the yacht club web sites,

·        Electronic LOCCA newsletter.

LOCCA will take advantage of new technologies to create a web-based virtual organization thereby creating an environment whereby the executive team, the membership, the Cruising Fleet Captains and the individual boater can work or consult directly online thus avoiding the need for face time meetings.
